Trisha Das along with Richa Chadha read a few passages from Trisha’s new novel and launched the book officially.
Richa said at the launch, “I would love to play the role of Draupadi from Mahabharata since I feel her character was most interesting for me. I have read the Mahabharata as a kid and really found it very interesting the way it was structured. I am happy to have launched Trisha’s book – its genuinely a fun humorous take on the modern day adaptation of the classic mythology.”
The book has a humorous take on several mythological themes with a fresh plot and a ton of attitude! Draupadi, one of the iconic women from the Mahabharata, lives in heaven. Yes, literally. It’s perfect but she’s bored of perfection. She wants to go on a holiday! Not alone, but with three friends in arm including Amba, Kunti and frenemy Gandhari who arrive, in their human avatar, in modern day New Delhi where so much has changed and so much is still the same. With new identities, they venture out into modern society and find new kinds of heaven, hell and everything in between. This will be an adventure of multiple lifetimes but thirty days are all they have and time is running fast. Soon, as per Krishna’s orders, they’ll have to return to heaven for eternity. The question is – will they want to leave when the party’s just started?
Filled with wit, humour and a strong social commentary, this book by Trisha Das is a perfect read for those looking for a coming-of-age, girl-buddy story with a big dollop of mythology and humour.
The book has been published by Harper Collins India and is currently available for purchase across leading bookstores and digital platforms.
